A small peak at the models while they're made. From left to right: a Camel, a Dingo, a Valentine, a Bishop, a Pig.

Aircrafts and vehicles

As a war game, Fly! Clyde! will be populated with all sorts of airplanes, helicopters, tanks and so on. I did a lot of research to choose for the best elements, and made a list of the ones which taken together are the best possible combination of interesting designs, purposes, and fire types.

In the end I made a bit of a mish-mash of various vehicles from the two World Wars, since the game takes places somewhere around 1937.
Also, the nations are fictional, so I choose a bit of english and USA crafts for the enemy forces, while Clyde flies an airplane that historically was part of the German army, but you mustn't think that those countries are related to the game in any way.

I can't tell you too much, of course, or the game will be spoiled. Rest assured though that each vehicle you'll see has a real counterpart. I only took the freedom to deform the hulls a little bit to increase visibility because of the limited dimensions on the iPhone screen.
For example, the main character aircraft is a Fokker DR.I Dreidecker (yes the one flown by the Red Baron, called Fokker Somedecker in the game) and it's a really accurate reconstruction. I only enlarged the main body to make it more fat, because it was too tiny to be read on-screen. Look at how slender is the real version!...

If you are passionate about war vehicles, you're going to have fun with this game. We plan to include detailed info and pictures of the various enemies and characters along with their crafts, as an unlockable through the game. For example if in a level you see a tank, a new vehicle sheet is unlocked with dimensions, art, rendering (not always all together, eh!), accessible in the War Files in the main menu.

Hey, don't get angry with me if you spot a vehicle that took service after 1937!

The White Cloud's Chronicles

Yes, this game - and the blog itself - is all about the chronicles of the famous White Cloud. Who's this White Cloud I'm talking about? You'll going to know.
White Cloud is the nickname of Clyde Cleveland, a now old skilled pilot of the war between Prusstonia and the small shoe-makers nation of Bootaly. He flies a glorious Fokker Somedecker, a red triplane with white clouds on top of the wings, which earned his famous nickname. He's actually quite apt at flying, even if he wasn't good at the flying academy exams back in 1919.
He's also a bit lazy, for he fought only three months in the World War One and a Half, in 1921, and then retired to a tranquil countryside life.
As we said in the opening post, war is coming again, and this time it's knocking directly at Clyde's door.

I want to post a first bit of something from the game, a screenshot from Clyde's airplane in the iPhone itself, just to prove that we are serious about it. Click on the image to see it bigger!

Fly! Clyde!

Hi all, and welcome to this newly created blog. I am part of a small group of developers, , and I have the pleasure to introduce you to our game, Fly! Clyde! - White Cloud's Chronicles. It's a vertical shooter with a humorous twist and a post-WWI pre-WWII setting. (it's after WWI-and-a-half, actually)
Through the months (I hope not the years) this blog is going to be filled with words, screens, art and even music from the game. We should give an insight into our work method, our engine, our art and even our pipeline, maybe. For those interested, stay with us!
